How do I search the Bible?
Click the "Search" button in the top navigation, or visit the search page. QuietBible offers two powerful ways to search:
Search by Bible Reference
Jump directly to specific books, chapters, or verses using natural references:

Find a specific verse

View an entire chapter

Browse a whole book

Get a range of verses
Search by Words or Phrases
Find verses containing specific words or phrases:

What book abbreviations can I use?
QuietBible recognizes over 200 common Bible book abbreviations. Here are some examples:
Old Testament
New Testament
Tip: Searches are case-insensitive and flexible with spacing. "JOHN 3:16", "john 3:16", and "John 3 : 16" all work!
Can I search for verse ranges?
Yes! Use a hyphen between verse numbers to get a range of verses from the same chapter:
John 3:16-18
Returns verses 16, 17, and 18 from John chapter 3
Psalm 119:1-176
Returns all 176 verses from Psalm 119 (up to 100 result limit)
Gen 1:1-31
Works with abbreviations too!
Note: Ranges must be within the same chapter. Cross-chapter ranges (e.g., "John 3:36-4:10") are not supported.
What Bible translations are available?
QuietBible offers 6 public domain translations:
- King James Version (KJV)
- American Standard Version (ASV)
- Darby Bible
- Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
- Bible in Basic English (BBE)
- Webster Bible

How do I change Bible translations?
While reading, click the translation dropdown button (e.g., "KJV") in the top navigation bar. Select your preferred translation and QuietBible will remember your choice.
Is QuietBible free to use?
Yes! QuietBible is completely free. All translations are public domain, and there are no ads, subscriptions, or hidden fees.
How do I navigate to a specific chapter?
Click the book name dropdown to select a book, then click the chapter number dropdown to select a chapter. You can also use the "Previous Chapter" and "Next Chapter" buttons at the bottom of each page.
Does QuietBible have reading plans?
Yes! We offer several reading plans including Whole Bible in a Year, New Testament in 90 Days, and custom plans where you pick your own books and pace. Visit the Reading Plans page to get started.
Does QuietBible have a prayer journal?
Yes! Our Prayer Journal lets you track your prayers, set reminder schedules, add notes, and celebrate answered prayers. Create a free account to start your journal.
Does QuietBible work offline?
QuietBible requires an internet connection to load chapters and search. Offline reading is not currently supported.
What makes QuietBible different?

How do I enable dark mode?
QuietBible automatically detects your system preference. If your device is set to dark mode, QuietBible will display in dark mode too.
Where does the Bible text come from?
All Bible texts are from public domain sources via the Scrollmapper API. These are faithful reproductions of historical translations.
